Laser marking, also referred to as laser coloration or dark marking, is a precision manufacturing process whereby a focused laser beam of light is used to produce clearly legible machined part identification to fulfill regulations or impart added distinction.
For additional information about laser marking, please read the below information, or contact one of Advanced Precision Machining’s experts.
When the laser beam produced by the laser marking machine interacts with the surface of a precision machined part, the process discolors the surface of the material altering its properties or appearance.
The discoloration method produced by laser marking causes oxidation turning the marked part black while leaving the surface of the part intact.
