APM Welcomes Two New CNC Machinists to Our Precision Machine Shop

[October 19, 2014] With another successful summer in the books at APM's Colorado CNC machine shop, fall is now upon us all too soon. The changing of the seasons and leaves here have also ushered in some new developments and exciting news for our precision machining facility. As a result of hard work, a loyal customer base, and some capital expenditures allowing us to improve efficiency and save money, we are pleased to share with readers the realization of one of our long-term growth initiatives; adding to our staff of professional and dedicated CNC machinists.

The economy is rebounding, and with this resurgence, the demand for milling and machining services has increased. The reality now confronting many CNC machining centers revolves around the difficulty in finding qualified CNC machinists. As co-founder at Advanced Precision Machining with Kirk Tuesburg, combined we have over forty of experience in the CNC machine shop industry. We are both of the opinion that our most important asset lies in the expertise and professionalism of our employees. Therefore, we are lucky and grateful to have found and hired two new CNC machinists who bring decades of experience to the table, and we want you to join us in welcoming them into the fold.

Dan Walcott, age 60, comes to us originally from the Houston, Texas area, but he has lived along Colorado's front range for many years now. A former co-worker of both Gerry and myself for over 20 years at Collins Machine Shop in Westminster, Dan is one of THE best CNC lathe guys we've ever been associated with. He brings with him over 35 years of precision manufacturing experience and knows not only the intricacies of CNC turning operations, but can deliver on any manner of CNC machining work.

Steven Buchta, age 59, has also found his way to us via the state of Texas. He and his wife relocated here to be closer to their son who is residing in Colorado. Steven brings with him over 30 years of combined experience in the milling and machining industry having worked in CNC machining environments most of his adult life. Steven is already proving to be a great hire for us, and has earned his place in the shop through expert operation and knowledge of all high speed milling machines and CNC programming operations. He is versatile and puts out a quality end product.

We are proud to have both Dan and Steven on board, and there is no substitute for the years of experience both gentlemen bring to the table. The younger crowd is just not there yet in terms of what they can deliver to a CNC machine shop. As co-owners, both Gerry and I hope that this changes, as we are about to lose a very valuable generation of CNC machinists as they reach retirement and old age. Both new hires are top notch, and will become a valuable part of our small crew.

Need help with an upcoming project? Our new hires are here for you! We're happy to discuss any machining need you have. Call us at at 303.776.1910 or send us an email.
