[November 17, 2013] At our dependable CNC machine shop, serving the greater Longmont, Boulder, and Denver area, you can count on us for all your milling and machining needs. We are well into the last quarter of another successful year as the precision manufacturing sector continues to experience growth on most fronts, and demand for CNC machine parts continues to outpace supply in some regards. For example, APM co-founder Kirk Tuesberg is busy training the next generation of CNC machinists in conjunction with Front Range Community College and their new courses focusing on precision machining technology. Machining centers are having some difficulty in finding qualified, experienced machinists, so APM offered its help. With this in mind, we'd like to take the opportunity in this blog post to bring you up to date on how we continue to gear up at our Colorado machine shop. In our quest to provide our customers with the best service and quality in the high speed machining industry, we try to do our best to stay ahead of the curve, and invest in the future.
Thus far, 2013 has been an exceptional year for us in terms of growth, capital investments, and other short and long-term initiatives. Without a doubt, our purchase in February of a Zeiss Spectrum II Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) was our big ticket item of the year. This CMM is now an integral player in APM's CNC machine work, helping us land more contracts with larger companies requiring CMM inspection reports and material certifications. In other news, we are now utilizing our newly acquired machine shop management software tool named Exact Jobboss. Already we are reaping the rewards of its many benefits!
Our CNC milling scheduling is more efficient and flexible, our CNC machine tools are better automated, our lead times have shortened, and we have successfully eliminated some of the fat on the administrative end. Finally this year, we are very busy officially implementing full ISO-9001 and ITAR certification and compliance procedures. We will soon be able to subcontract directly with many defense contractors, allowing us to achieve continual improvement in performance for all of our customers.
To round out the year, we move forward and look ahead to an equally productive 2014. Our milling machines continue to churn out precision machine parts, and we continue to provide you with on-time, accurate delivery, and outstanding customer service. We are excited about potentially expanding our
CNC machining company in the very near future. Our CNC milling, grinding, turning, and plating machines have outgrown their current facilities, and we are doubling down in our efforts to acquire a larger building in response to an increase in customer demand. A new forklift, and a new horizontal saw are on our wishlist, and recently, we purchased a state-of-the-art Kaeser USA air compressor. This rotary "screw-type" machine is quite an advancement over traditional "piston-type" compressors. It ensures quiet indoor operation, high capacity, 24/7 service availability, and features a slow draw on the initial electrical start-up so as not to trip our machine shop breakers as the unit turns on and off throughout the course of a work day.
Thanks to all of our customers for making this year "one for the books" thus far. For more shop information, be sure to follow us on our social media feeds:
